Mohammed Kudus has shared the reasoning behind his decision to join Tottenham Hotspur, explaining what convinced him to make the high-profile move across London from West Ham United.

The Ghanaian international became Tottenham’s marquee signing of the summer, arriving in a £55 million deal that surprised many, not only due to the fee but also because of the rarity of players switching directly between these two clubs. Kudus is now just the sixth player in 20 years to make that move.

Despite the scrutiny, the 25-year-old has quickly silenced any doubters, slotting into Spurs’ setup with ease and becoming a key player on the right wing.

He has already notched three Premier League assists, just one shy of his entire tally from last season, showing signs of real development under his new manager.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Kudus explained that Tottenham’s long-term vision and the chance to work under Thomas Frank were central to his decision.

“The main factor in any club you want to join is the project—how you see yourself developing in that project and with the manager,” Kudus said.

“Looking at Thomas Frank’s work at Brentford with attackers—players like Mbeumo, Toney, Damsgaard—his development of them was really massive.”

“I thought he would be the perfect guy to help me grow. His style of play and what he wants from his attackers fits exactly how I want to play. It just felt like the perfect fit in my head.”

Kudus Impressive — But Goals Must Follow

Since arriving at Tottenham, Kudus has impressed with his pace, dribbling, and ability to stretch defences, quickly earning the trust of Thomas Frank, who has given him regular minutes out wide.

However, while his creative output has been promising, Kudus is still looking to get off the mark with his first goal for Spurs.

With much of the club’s goalscoring burden falling on Richarlison, Tottenham will be hoping others — including Kudus — begin to contribute more in front of goal.
