New boss Nuno Espírito Santo has so far favoured El Hadji Malick Diouf at left-back, limiting Scarles to appearances in cup fixtures and for the reserves. With limited first-team minutes, Nuno is reportedly open to letting the youngster leave on loan to gain regular playing time.

Former West Ham midfielder Martin Allen believes a Championship loan could be the ideal next step.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, Allen said:
“There’s potential for a loan move. West Ham need a core squad of 18 to 20 players, and Scarles is still very young.
He’s a talented player and will likely feature in cup matches, but right now, I don’t think he’s quite at Diouf’s level.
A loan to the Championship could be great for his development — regular football at that level would really help him grow.”

At this point in his career, what Scarles needs most is consistent first-team action. A loan spell at a Championship club could provide exactly that — the opportunity to gain experience, boost his confidence, and develop in a more demanding environment.
