“‘We Knew Their Weak Spot’: Struber Reveals Ruthless Tactics Behind Bristol City’s Norwich Ambush!”

Bristol City manager Gerhard Struber revealed that his strategy to defeat Norwich City centered on neutralizing Josh Sargent and exploiting spaces out wide.

Since replacing Liam Manning at Ashton Gate over the summer, Struber has already doubled his predecessor’s points tally.

His side’s 1-0 victory at Carrow Road — courtesy of Mark Sykes’ 73rd-minute goal — added to Norwich’s recent struggles and highlighted Bristol City’s progress under the Austrian.

“I was really pleased with how we handled Norwich, particularly with the quality they have in different areas,” Struber said. “We consistently created two-versus-one situations out wide and managed to contain Sargent very effectively.

That showed the team is developing well. We fully deserved the win — the players gave everything, and everyone did their job brilliantly.”

Struber praised his team’s focus and preparation, adding, “We worked all week for this. I could feel the hunger in training — we were ready.

I always believed the goal would come, and every player showed the right level to help us get the points.”

The City boss also singled out 21-year-old goalkeeper Radek Vitek, on loan from Manchester United, for special praise after the youngster denied both Emi Marcondes and Jack Stacey in the second half.

“Very impressed — even a little surprised,” Struber admitted. “At 21, he already looks like an experienced Championship goalkeeper. His consistency makes him a really exciting talent.”

He added that the team’s effort left them “running on empty” by the final whistle but praised their execution of the game plan. “We knew we had to perform at the highest level against a team like Norwich, and the boys delivered,” he said. “After the disappointment of the QPR defeat, everyone came back from the international break determined to respond — and we did just that.”
