Derby Fans Delighted by Sondre Langas’ Return to Starting Line-Up

Derby County supporters have voiced their relief and excitement at seeing Sondre Langas back in the starting XI, following the Rams’ 1–0 victory over QPR on Saturday.

The Norwegian defender made his first start of the season at Pride Park after featuring as a substitute in the midweek win against Norwich City.

Langas, 24, spent the latter half of last season playing through a knee injury to help Derby preserve their Championship status.

The problem required surgery over the summer, ruling him out since the final-day draw with Stoke City in May until his return from the bench against Norwich last week.

Having joined from Viking FC in January, Langas quickly became a key player under John Eustace, and his comeback has been warmly welcomed by the Rams’ faithful.

It was Carlton Morris’ 10th-minute strike, assisted by Langas, that earned Derby the 1–0 win over the Hoops—securing back-to-back victories and moving the side five points clear of the relegation zone.

But it was Langas’ commanding 90-minute display that drew most of the post-match praise, as Derby climbed to 17th in the table and recorded their second successive clean sheet.

Supporters were quick to highlight the difference his presence made:

“Class today. We looked so much more solid at the back with him. Can’t fault Clarke or Sanderson either. That back three has to stay. Glad he’s back. A fully fit Langas is going to be some player this season,” wrote one delighted fan.

Langas’ impact has also reignited appreciation for the club’s January business, with many fans pointing to his signing as one of the smartest pieces of recruitment in years.

“Best £4m we’ve spent in ages. Selling Cashin and getting this guy for a third of the price was brilliant. Same age, twice the player—and he loves winding up away fans,” another supporter commented.

Others have urged Eustace to make Langas the focal point of the side:

“What a player. Build the team around him!” one fan demanded.
“Absolute class act—so composed on the ball,” added another.
“He’s destined for the Premier League one day,” predicted a third.

Derby now turn their attention to their next fixture, an away trip to Sheffield United on November 1.

Langas’ Return a Major Boost for the Rams

Langas’ assured performance against QPR underlined just how much Derby had missed him. With two consecutive wins and clean sheets, Eustace’s men are building valuable momentum at a crucial point in the season.

His return not only strengthens the team defensively but also injects fresh confidence throughout the squad and fanbase.

A third straight victory next weekend—with Langas once again at the heart of the back line—would be another significant step forward for the Rams.
