Reports from September linked Aston Villa with a move for the former Zenit St Petersburg forward, with a potential £35 million valuation mentioned.

With Villa struggling to get the best out of Ollie Watkins, a move for Isidor could soon be on the cards. Sky Sports pundit Dougie Critchley even described the 23-year-old as looking “very comfortable” in the Premier League following that standout display at Stamford Bridge.

Sunderland’s attacking depth, however, remains thin. New £17.3 million signing Brian Brobbey is yet to open his Premier League account, while Eliezer Mayenda has faded into the background after showing promise in the Championship.

Guiu was recalled by Chelsea amid an injury crisis but has since made a strong impression at Stamford Bridge. Manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the 19-year-old Spaniard is “absolutely” part of his first-team plans after scoring in the Champions League against Ajax.

Despite that, a loan return to Sunderland could still materialize. Guiu — once hailed as an “exceptional” talent by former coach Albert Capellas — has already found the net for both Barcelona and Chelsea in Europe.

His earlier goal for Sunderland before his recall only adds to the club’s belief that he could thrive again under Le Bris.

Comparing Guiu and Isidor

At first glance, comparing Guiu to Isidor might seem premature. The Frenchman’s four Premier League goals have drawn £35 million links, while Guiu is yet to score in England’s top flight.

However, Isidor has his inconsistencies — missing 20 big chances in last season’s Championship campaign. His current strike rate, despite averaging just 12.8 touches per match, seems difficult to sustain long-term.
