Oliver Glasner reacts to Crystal Palace’s dominant Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner shared his thoughts after his side’s convincing 3–0 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. The result marks Palace’s second triumph over the Reds this season, and this one came in emphatic fashion at Anfield.

Ismaila Sarr was the star of the night with a brace, while Yeremy Pino added a third after earlier providing an assist.

The win sees Palace advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face Arsenal — and they’ll head into that clash full of belief that they can secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Speaking to Palace TV after the match, Glasner expressed his delight but also shared some disappointing news on the injury front.

“It’s a very good result,” he said. “To be honest, I wasn’t happy with our start — the first 15 minutes looked like we were still asleep in the hotel beds. But after that, we played really well and scored some excellent goals.

In attack, we could have created more clear chances in the second half — our final pass wasn’t always the best. But overall, winning 3–0 at Anfield is a fantastic achievement. Reaching the quarter-finals was our target, and we’ve done that.

The only downside is that Eddie Nketiah picked up another hamstring injury, which is unfortunate. Otherwise, everything went as planned.”

Sarr’s double means he has now scored three goals in his last two outings against Liverpool — clearly a team he enjoys facing. Glasner even joked about his forward’s impressive record:

“It seems like Isma loves playing against Liverpool — he’s always scoring against them! But of course, he needs the support of his teammates.

For the first goal, Dani Muñoz made a brilliant run into the box, and Isma was there to finish. On the second, the link-up play between our three attackers was excellent — it was a beautiful goal.”
