Paquetá’s clumsy foul on Florentino Luís earned him a booking that could easily have been avoided — a frustrating moment for Nuno, especially considering the importance of discipline at this stage of the campaign.

Despite that, the Hammers fought back impressively to claim all three points. Goals from Callum Wilson, Tomáš Souček, and Kyle Walker-Peters overturned Zian Flemming’s opener for the visitors, sealing a vital comeback victory for the East London side.

Nevin Slams Paquetá for “Nonsensical” Challenge

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin didn’t hold back in his assessment of Paquetá’s decision-making. Speaking live on BBC Radio 5 Live at 15:28, Nevin criticised the midfielder’s reckless tackle.

“Lucas Paquetá follows through — absolutely nonsensical,” he said. “Now you lose him for the next game. Not that impressive from Paquetá. We know he’s got his qualities, but there are negatives in there as well.”

Nevin argued there was no need for such a challenge in an area where Burnley posed little danger, labelling the foul as an avoidable and costly mistake.

Suspension Adds to Nuno’s Frustration

Paquetá’s caution means he will now serve a one-match suspension after accumulating five yellow cards this season. His needless fouls throughout the first half ultimately cost him, leaving Nuno Espírito Santo without a key playmaker for West Ham’s next match against Bournemouth.

Tomáš Souček once again proved to be the hero at the London Stadium, showcasing his leadership and aerial dominance — qualities the Hammers will rely on heavily in Paquetá’s absence.
