Everton Beat Fulham 2-0 as Fans Rally Behind Thierno Barry

Everton secured a 2-0 Premier League victory over Fulham, though Thierno Barry remains on the hunt for his first goal for the club.

Goals from Idrissa Gana Gueye and Michael Keane, either side of half-time, sealed a comfortable win for the Toffees at Goodison Park. Everton dominated much of the match and even had three goals ruled out for offside.

Everton’s striker situation has been a challenge this season, but manager David Moyes once again started Barry, who joined for £27 million in the summer and is still searching for his debut goal, following the 1-1 draw at Sunderland.

Barry had a good chance to score while the game was goalless but was unable to find the net. Nevertheless, he worked tirelessly throughout the match before being substituted in the 79th minute for Beto. The home fans showed their appreciation for Barry’s effort with a standing ovation.

After the game, Moyes praised the Everton supporters for continuing to back both Barry and Beto, who has scored just once in the Premier League so far. Speaking at his post-match press conference, Moyes said:

“The Everton fans deserve great credit because they understand both players are looking for confidence and support. The crowd were brilliant for Barry today, and he gave them something to cheer about, earning a well-deserved round of applause when he came off.”

“I don’t think any Evertonian would question Beto’s work-rate and attitude. He did amazing for us at the end of last season, scoring goals and playing with real commitment. The supporters deserve a lot of credit because keeping these two strikers’ confidence up is vital, especially when it’s not easy to score as a centre-forward.”
