Daniel Farke — a manager already familiar with the pain of Premier League relegation — entered this season under a cloud of pressure. Many wondered if this time would finally be different for the German coach. Eleven games into Leeds United’s 2025/26 campaign, the answer remains uncertain.
Despite the early optimism, Leeds now sit just two points clear of the relegation zone. While that position might be understandable for a newly promoted team, four defeats in their last five league games have soured the mood at Elland Road.
For now, the Leeds hierarchy isn’t expected to make any drastic moves, even with the international break offering a convenient window for change. Still, there’s a growing sense that Farke’s future is hanging by a thread.
And with upcoming fixtures against Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Brentford, the pressure couldn’t be higher. The question is simple: can Farke survive this brutal run — and if not, who takes his place?
Farke’s Premier League Record Under the Microscope
The 49-year-old may have been a man under suspicion since the summer. Reports suggested that Leeds’ 49ers ownership group had already debated replacing him, despite his success in guiding the club back to the top flight at the second attempt.
It’s easy to see why there were doubts. Farke’s previous Premier League spells with Norwich City were disastrous. In 2019/20, his team finished rock-bottom. Then, just 11 games into the 2021/22 campaign, he was sacked after ten winless matches.
Across his 49 Premier League games with Norwich, Farke recorded just six wins, eight draws, and a staggering 35 defeats — conceding 101 goals with a points-per-game average of 0.53.
So far, Leeds’ 2025/26 numbers don’t look much better: three wins, two draws, and six losses from their opening 11 fixtures. Unless something changes soon, the fear of another swift return to the Championship is becoming very real.
Farke was given a chance to redeem himself in the top flight. But with results stagnating, that faith might now be misplaced.
Who Could Replace Farke at Leeds United?
Replacing a manager mid-season is always a gamble, but Leeds could soon be forced to roll the dice. Several names have already been linked with the job — among them Carlos Corberán and Ange Postecoglou.
However, one intriguing candidate could be Strasbourg’s Liam Rosenior. The former Hull City boss has made waves in Ligue 1 this season, guiding his young side to fourth place — just five points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
Praised by pundit Clinton Morrison as “one of the best coaches ever,” Rosenior’s record is impressive: seven wins, four defeats, and one draw in 12 league matches. That comes after a strong 2024/25 season where Strasbourg finished seventh and qualified for Europe.
What’s even more remarkable is the age of his squad — an average of just 22.6 years old, according to Transfermarkt — yet his side has already scored 24 goals this term.
By contrast, Farke’s Leeds have managed only ten goals in 11 Premier League outings — the joint-second worst in the division.
Rosenior has previously praised former Leeds icon Marcelo Bielsa as a “genius” for his revolutionary football at Elland Road. Perhaps he could now be the man to rekindle that same spark.
