Leeds United are considering a move for a manager with victories over Oliver Glasner, Thomas Tuchel and Ange Postecoglou as pressure grows on Daniel Farke.
Farke under pressure after Forest defeat
The international break arrived at a difficult moment for Leeds, who went into it on the back of consecutive Premier League defeats away to Brighton and Nottingham Forest.
After conceding three goals in both matches, the Whites now sit just one point above the relegation zone and face a daunting run of fixtures when the league resumes.
Recent results have sparked speculation about Farke’s future, but journalist Graeme Bailey claims 49ers Enterprises still plan to give the German until January to steady the ship.
Bailey explained: “Pressure is mounting on Daniel Farke – but he expected this, and so did the club. It was always going to be a long season. They didn’t invest the kind of money Sunderland did.
“They know Farke can only work with what he’s got, but the performances and how competitive they are in the coming weeks will be crucial.”
If the hierarchy opt to make a change, several names have already been linked with a potential move to Elland Road, including Strasbourg’s Liam Rosenior and Valencia boss Carlos Corberan, formerly Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant.
Leeds monitoring Marco Rose
Football Insider now reports that Marco Rose – previously in charge of RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig – is a serious candidate on Leeds’ shortlist.
The outlet also shared insights from former scout Mick Brown, who warned that appointing Rose could be a risk.
“I’ve no doubt Marco Rose is someone Leeds are looking at. Their connections with the Red Bull network make him a realistic option if they decide to change manager.
“But I’d be surprised if he’s the one they go for. If they sack Farke, it will be because they fear relegation, and taking a gamble on someone without Premier League experience might not be wise.
“Leeds wanted a manager with proven Premier League success in the summer, and that question was raised with Farke too. So if they make a change now, I expect that’s what they’ll focus on.”
Rose, 49, who favours a 4-4-2 system, has been out of work since leaving RB Leipzig in March. His coaching résumé includes wins over high-profile managers such as Glasner, Tuchel and Postecoglou.
Describing his preferred style, Rose has said: “We want to be very active without the ball, pressing aggressively after losing possession. We want to win the ball high and create quick routes to goal.
And when we have it, we aim to play good football – not hopeful long balls, but fast, dynamic attacks.”
Whether that philosophy could soon be seen at Elland Road remains to be seen.
