3 players who may have already played their final game for Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town could see further squad changes in 2026, with some players potentially leaving without making another appearance for the club.

The Tractor Boys currently sit 7th in the Championship after 14 games in the 2025/26 season and will be aiming to build on their momentum when action resumes after the break.

Ipswich ended the pre-break period on a high, extending their unbeaten run to four games with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Swansea City.

They have claimed 10 points from their last 12, a much-needed boost after a difficult start to the campaign.

Kieran McKenna’s side is expected to remain in the promotion hunt as they strive to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Significant changes over the summer have left the squad almost unrecognisable compared to the team that earned automatic promotion just over two years ago.

This reshaping has pushed some players down the pecking order, and a few may be on their way out in 2026 without featuring for Ipswich again.

Arijanet Muric

Kosovan goalkeeper Arijanet Muric joined Ipswich from Burnley following the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

His first half of the 2024/25 season was a struggle, marked by mistakes that led to Alex Palmer replacing him in January 2025. During the summer, Muric moved to Sassuolo on a loan-to-buy deal.

Muric has impressed in Serie A, with Sassuolo reportedly keen to make the deal permanent. The goalkeeper has also expressed a desire to settle at a long-term club, suggesting his career at Ipswich is effectively over.

Conor Townsend

Townsend’s situation is unfortunate, and it’s possible he may never play for Ipswich again. Signed from West Brom last summer as an experienced left-back option, he provided depth and defensive stability for McKenna’s squad.

However, an ACL injury sustained in the final pre-season game is likely to rule him out for the entire season. By the time he is fit again, his contract will have expired, meaning he may end up playing for another club.

Ali Al-Hamadi

Finally, there is Ali Al-Hamadi, who moved to Luton Town on loan over the summer. The deal includes conditions that could trigger a permanent transfer, but so far his time there has been disrupted by injury.

The Iraq international is only just returning from a calf injury and has made two substitute appearances in Luton’s last three games.

If the conditions for a permanent move are not met, Al-Hamadi may return to Ipswich but is likely to be moved on, as his chances of establishing himself in the first team appear slim despite having two years left on his contract.
