“Breaking”- Leeds Eyeing highly profile manager to Replace Daniel Farke Amid Sack Update

Leeds United have reportedly identified Brendan Rodgers as their leading candidate to replace Daniel Farke, according to TEAMtalk.

The Elland Road hierarchy are said to view the former Celtic manager as their preferred option as they attempt to stabilise the club after a poor run of Premier League results.

Leeds have lost six of their last seven matches, including a 2–1 home defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, a slump that has pushed them into the relegation zone for the first time this season.

As a result, the club is understood to be seriously reviewing Farke’s position, with the German coach now considered to be “at serious risk” of dismissal.

Rodgers emerges as the frontrunner

TEAMtalk reports that Rodgers sits at the top of Leeds’ shortlist and that there is confidence he would be open to taking the job mid-season.

The 52-year-old stepped down from Celtic earlier this month, ending his second spell at the club. During that time, he won two Scottish Premiership titles and helped deliver sustained domestic success.

His departure came amid accusations from majority shareholder Dermot Desmond, who criticised Rodgers’ leadership as “divisive, misleading and self-serving.” He was succeeded temporarily by Martin O’Neill.

Across his two periods in charge at Parkhead, Rodgers won 11 major trophies, oversaw 292 matches, and recorded 201 victories with an average of 2.22 points per game.

Before returning to Scotland, Rodgers managed Leicester City in the Premier League, taking charge of more than 200 matches before being dismissed in April 2023 with the Foxes sitting in the drop zone.

A proven Premier League résumé

Should Leeds pursue him, Rodgers would arrive with a decade of top-flight experience, having previously managed Swansea City, Liverpool and Leicester.

At Liverpool, he led the Reds to a second-place finish in the 2013/14 campaign, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City, and also delivered two other top-seven finishes.

After accepting the Leicester job in 2019, he guided the Foxes to four consecutive top-10 league finishes, including back-to-back fifth-place finishes in 2019/20 and 2020/21.

Across his Premier League career, Rodgers has overseen 312 games, winning 139 and averaging 1.56 points per match.

A daunting run awaits Leeds

Leeds’ next three fixtures present a significant challenge. Farke’s side are set to face Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool as they search for their first points since their 2–1 win over West Ham in October.
