“HUGE WIN”- Paul Merson predicts the winner of Everton vs Newcastle United

Paul Merson is echoing the big question on every Newcastle United fan’s mind ahead of Saturday’s clash with Everton.

Eddie Howe will lead his team to the Hill Dickinson Stadium hoping to secure consecutive Premier League victories, having stunned Manchester City last weekend.

However, that high was quickly dampened by a Champions League defeat to Marseille — their fourth straight away loss in all competitions.

With just one away win to their name this season, Newcastle’s road form has been dreadful, and Merson sees no reason for optimism.

Merson tips Everton to beat Newcastle

Giving his prediction to Sportskeeda, the former Arsenal star expects David Moyes’ side to come out on top. He says Newcastle’s record away from St James’ Park makes them impossible to trust.

“I don’t know what’s going on with Newcastle,” Merson said. “They perform brilliantly against Manchester City and then lose to Marseille in the next game after scoring first!

“Newcastle’s Premier League away form has been poor, and they’ve got Everton next at Merseyside. This is a really tough fixture for them.”

He continued: “Everton look a far more confident team now and no longer sit back and play defensively. Newcastle have only managed one away win all season — I just can’t back them here.”
