‘Leeds 100% set to sack Daniel Farke this week’, huge claim emerges on Sky Sports News

Daniel Farke is unlikely to remain in charge of Leeds United by the time the New Year arrives.

Despite Leeds’ 3–2 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, supporters will take pride in the team’s courageous display at the Etihad Stadium.

Under heavy scrutiny, Farke looked to be in trouble when his side fell 2–0 behind in the first half following goals from Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol. Calls had already been made for the German coach to show more faith in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and he responded at halftime by bringing the former Everton striker on in place of Willy Gnonto.

The change made an instant impact. Calvert-Lewin scored just four minutes after coming on, and Lukas Nmecha equalised in the 68th minute, finishing a rebound after his penalty was initially saved. Unfortunately for Leeds, Foden struck again late in the match, sealing their fourth consecutive Premier League loss.

Tim Sherwood predicts Leeds will dismiss Farke

Earlier this month, Tim Sherwood described Farke’s dismissal as “inevitable,” and with Leeds’ poor form continuing, the former Tottenham boss has reinforced his stance. Asked on Sky Sports News whether Farke would still be in post at the start of January, Sherwood replied:

“No. He will get sacked within the next three games. 100 per cent.”

Sherwood stressed that he does not believe Leeds should sack Farke, arguing that the manager is maximising the talent available to him. He pointed out that despite the club spending around £100 million, much of the squad remains made up of Championship-level players — while established Premier League sides continue to invest heavily, widening the gap.

According to Sherwood, Leeds will act rather than “sit on their hands”:

“They can’t change the players, so they’ll change the manager.”

Who could replace Farke at Leeds?

Concrete links to potential replacements have been scarce, with most speculation coming from supporters online. Former Leeds assistant Carlos Corberan has emerged as a possible option, thanks to his strong work at West Brom and uncertainty regarding his future at Valencia.

Marco Rose, Bo Svensson, Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou have also been mentioned, all currently available. Rose has been out of work since departing RB Leipzig in March, and his Red Bull pedigree — also having coached Salzburg — could appeal to Leeds’ ownership.

Svensson impressed at Mainz, though his brief spell at Union Berlin was far less successful. As for Rodgers and Postecoglou, both have Premier League experience, but many fans appear to favour Rodgers following Postecoglou’s disappointing tenure at Nottingham Forest.
