Alexander Isak finally broke his Premier League duck for Liverpool as the Reds returned to winning ways with a confident 2–0 victory over West Ham.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Isak acknowledged the personal importance of scoring but was equally keen to credit the team’s resilience.

“I’m aware that it has been a long time coming and I’ve been trying to get back to my best form,” he said.
“I’m still on the way, but I’m happy to get that goal.

The best feeling today is that we win the game, and that is the best way to create good spirit in the group. Of course, I’m a striker, so scoring goals will always help me.
We have to use this win in a positive way but also stay humble. We need to stay focused and keep working hard to maintain this momentum.”

Isak finally settling into life at Liverpool

The first half hinted at another frustrating outing for Isak. One promising effort was blocked brilliantly by Alphonse Areola, and otherwise the forward struggled to get involved.

But his goal proved his striker’s instinct is still very much intact and has given him renewed confidence.

With fixtures coming thick and fast in the weeks ahead, the Swedish international now has the ideal platform to build from. After a difficult run, Isak finally looks like he has arrived as a Liverpool player.
