Regis Le Bris describes one Leeds United player as ‘perfect’ after Sunderland draw

Leeds United and Sunderland shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelling out Simon Adingra’s early opener.

The result extends Leeds’ impressive unbeaten run to five matches, during which they have picked up nine points.

The draw also sees Daniel Farke’s side move seven points clear of struggling West Ham United and two points above 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who were beaten by Manchester City on Saturday.

While Leeds may feel they deserved more, it was still a solid outcome on the road.

Calvert-Lewin continued his fine form, netting his seventh goal in six games to become the first Leeds player to score in six consecutive Premier League matches. His performances have reportedly caught the attention of England boss Thomas Tuchel.

Regis Le Bris Praises Calvert-Lewin

Calvert-Lewin’s name continues to dominate conversations, with even opposition managers weighing in on his impact.

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris had already spoken highly of the striker before kick-off, and his admiration only grew after watching Calvert-Lewin ghost past defender Nordi Mukiele to score.

“He has perfect timing,” Le Bris said. “We were pressing high, they played through us, and he ran off the back of Nordi. He’s intelligent and a very good striker — he arrived at exactly the right moment.”

Le Bris wasn’t the only manager impressed. Farke once again spoke glowingly about his striker, highlighting both his work ethic and leadership qualities.

“He works incredibly hard and sets the tone in the dressing room,” Farke said. “I don’t want to wrap him in cotton wool. He gives everything, and when you play for the team like that, the goals come naturally.”

Calvert-Lewin was substituted shortly after the 80-minute mark, possibly as a precaution with a demanding run of fixtures ahead.

Leeds now face a packed schedule, beginning with clashes against Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle, before rounding off the stretch with an FA Cup trip to Derby County on January 11.
