However, with the Magpies travelling to face second-bottom Burnley on Tuesday night live on Sky Sports, the big question is whether Chris Sutton will once again put his faith in Eddie Howe’s side.
Kick-off at Turf Moor is set for 7:30pm, and Newcastle will be desperate to claim what would be only their second Premier League away victory of the campaign.

Despite Newcastle’s struggles on the road, Sutton believes this could finally be the night they deliver.
Writing for the BBC, the former striker has tipped Newcastle to take all three points — and even keep a clean sheet.
“Burnley have drawn their last two games but they really need a win because they’re drifting near the bottom, six points from safety,” Sutton wrote.
“Scott Parker is under a bit of pressure and some fans have called into 606 calling for change. That said, they’ve remained competitive, even if they haven’t won since October 26.
“Newcastle also need a win. They’re a strange team — playing reasonably well but not picking up the results. I keep backing them and it keeps costing me.
“But I’m sticking with them again. I’m going for a rare away win for Eddie Howe’s side — and this time, a clean sheet.”
Sutton’s prediction: Burnley 0–1 Newcastle
Would we take another narrow win? Absolutely. When Paul Merson predicted a 1–0 Newcastle victory, we said we’d gladly accept it — and that hasn’t changed. Three points are all that matter, no matter how scrappy.
That said, a convincing performance and a comfortable win to round off the year would go down very nicely on Tyneside.
