Fenerbahce break silence on Youseff En-Nesyri future amid Everton and Nottingham Forest interest

Everton are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri during the January transfer window.

The Toffees are looking to strengthen their attacking options, with Beto and Thierno Barry struggling in the first half of the season.

David Moyes’ side currently sit 12th in the Premier League, just four points behind fifth-placed Brentford, meaning a strong run of form could see them climb the table.

En-Nesyri, 28, is a player Moyes has admired for some time, having previously tracked him during his spell at West Ham United.

The Moroccan international has twice helped Sevilla lift the Europa League and played a key role in Morocco’s run to the African Cup of Nations final, scoring the decisive penalty in the semi-final shootout against Nigeria.

Everton are not alone in their pursuit of the striker, with Nottingham Forest and Serie A champions Napoli also reportedly interested.

Fenerbahce manager Domenico Tedesco offered an update on En-Nesyri’s future following his team’s 1-0 win over Beyoğlu Yeni Çarşı. Tedesco remained non-committal but praised the forward:

“Youssef is our player. He has our full support. We’ve exchanged messages recently, and he has an important match with the Moroccan national team.

I wish him the best. He’s always given his all for us whenever needed, and he deserves my full support.”

According to reports from Turkey, Everton have submitted a £4.5 million loan offer for En-Nesyri, which Fenerbahce have accepted. Since joining the Istanbul-based club from Sevilla in 2024, the striker has scored 38 goals in 77 appearances.

Despite the interest, Moyes has indicated that Everton are unlikely to make signings this month unless they can make an immediate impact on the first team:

“The big thing about January is that you can bring players in to patch things up, but ideally you wait to make bigger signings when you have more time.

Clubs sometimes need short-term fixes, but everyone really wants players who will stay long-term. January is rarely that time, and while some deals might happen by the end of the window, not many clubs appear to be actively investing in new players right now.”
