Leeds United have made an explosive start to the closing stages of the January transfer window, with the 49ers ownership group wasting little time in reinforcing the squad and signalling their intent for the remainder of the season.

The Whites have already secured one significant addition and are actively working on another deal as the week progresses.

Facundo Buonanotte has arrived on loan for the rest of the campaign, a move that gathered momentum after initial contact between both parties back in December.

The Argentine midfielder was keen to make the switch and played a key role in pushing the deal over the line.

Buonanotte’s arrival has helped bolster Leeds’ attacking options following the departure of Jack Harrison. The winger was eager to move on and has since joined Serie A side Fiorentina on loan, leaving a gap that Leeds were quick to address.

Attention has now turned to strengthening the forward line. Earlier this week, reports revealed that Leeds had made enquiries about Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen.

Wolves are understood to have placed a £40 million valuation on the Norwegian international, with several other Premier League clubs also monitoring his situation.

Strand Larsen keen on Leeds switch

Wolves are believed to have turned down an opening offer from Leeds, reportedly in the region of £30 million, which was submitted early on Friday. However, sources close to the club suggest that there is room for negotiation and that a deal could be structured in a way that suits all parties in the coming days.

Crucially, Strand Larsen himself is said to be open to the move. According to Sky Sports, the striker is very receptive to joining another Premier League side, a factor that could significantly aid Leeds’ pursuit.

As with the Buonanotte deal, the player’s willingness to make the transfer could prove decisive, even if the final fee edges closer to Wolves’ £40 million asking price.

Plenty for Leeds fans to be optimistic about

There is understandable excitement among Leeds supporters, with player interest in joining the club seen as a hugely positive sign.

In recent years, the Whites have struggled with recruits who were quick to look for exits following relegation in 2023, so the idea of players actively wanting to pull on the Leeds shirt is a welcome change.

Having the player on board should also help accelerate negotiations and smooth the path towards a potential agreement. Even though a deal for Strand Larsen is yet to be finalised, the intent from the ownership is already clear.

The 49ers have underlined their ambition throughout this transfer window, demonstrating a clear desire to keep Leeds in the Premier League.

After a quiet and frustrating period in the Championship last season, some fans were uncertain whether significant business would be done this month.

Now, however, a large portion of the fanbase appears reassured that the club’s owners are committed to doing what they believe is best for the team and its long-term future.
