BAD NEWS— Rangers agreed seven-figure exit package for fans favourite star with loan move now imminent

Belgian side Westerlo have agreed a loan deal with Rangers for defender Clinton Nsiala until the end of the season.

The Rangers Review understands the move will be completed before the transfer deadline, with Nsiala set to reunite with former Ibrox coach Issame Charai in Belgium. The agreement reportedly includes an option for Westerlo to make the transfer permanent next summer for a fee of around £1 million.

Nsiala had been made available during this window after failing to feature prominently in Danny Rohl’s plans.

The French defender, who joined Rangers in the summer of 2024 after turning down interest from several European clubs following his departure from AC Milan, has made just three appearances this season. He currently sits behind John Souttar, Manny Fernandez and Nasser Djiga in the defensive pecking order.

The move comes six months after Charai himself left Ibrox following the arrival of Russell Martin and his new coaching staff.

It also marks the second piece of business between Rangers and Westerlo this term, after Tuur Rommens’ switch to Glasgow earlier in the window.

The left-back completed a £3 million move to Rangers, though he has yet to feature as he continues his recovery from a minor injury. Speaking previously to the Rangers Review, Charai offered insight into what supporters can expect from Rommens.

“Yes, it’s very difficult because Tuur was an important player for us,” Charai said. “He was a regular starter and played a lot of minutes last season.

He’s young, improving all the time, and there was plenty of interest in him. When Rangers came calling, we spoke about the club and I told him it’s a fantastic club in a great city.

“I understand his ambition to take the next step, and Rangers is a perfect fit. It’s a massive club and there’s immediate pressure to win, especially at home.

But what I like most about Tuur — and why he’s a real Rangers-type player — is that he fights for every ball.

“He’s energetic, strong, and constantly gets up and down the pitch. He’s exactly the kind of player the fans will appreciate, and I’m confident it will be a great move for him.”
