Lukasz Fabianski confirms Everton offer but family roots kept him at West Ham United

goalkeeper turned down the opportunity to reunite with former manager at , opting instead to remain in east London.

Although Fabianski initially left West Ham when his contract expired at the end of last season, he returned to the club in September.

Since rejoining, however, the experienced shot-stopper has been sidelined with a back injury and is yet to feature.

Fabianski first arrived at the London Stadium from in 2018 and has gone on to make 216 appearances for the Hammers. Having firmly established roots in east London, he and his family preferred to stay put despite attracting interest elsewhere.

Everton approached him about a potential move, but after discussions with his family, Fabianski chose to re-sign for West Ham. In an interview with , he explained:

“I had several offers, from Everton as a second goalkeeper. There was also an inquiry from Legia Warsaw, and I had various conversations. However, my family and I decided that we did not want to change our place of residence.”

Moyes’ interest is understandable given their history. During Moyes’ time in charge, Fabianski made 153 appearances and kept 41 clean sheets.

Although the Scottish manager eventually phased him out of the starting lineup, he was keen on a reunion on Merseyside, likely as experienced cover behind Jordan Pickford and Mark Travers.

Despite currently being sidelined, Fabianski could still achieve a notable milestone before the campaign concludes. One more competitive appearance would see the 40-year-old become the oldest goalkeeper to represent West Ham in the Premier League, surpassing the record held by .

Whether that opportunity arrives remains uncertain. With the stakes high and little room for sentiment, and with Mads Hermansen and Alphonse Areola competing for the No.1 spot, another appearance for Fabianski is far from guaranteed.
