Goals from and condemned Aston Villa to another defeat, following consecutive draws against Leeds United and Bournemouth.

Villa’s only win in their last five league games came against Brighton, effectively ending their realistic hopes of challenging for the Premier League title this season.

However, the battle for a Champions League spot remains alive, with Unai Emery’s side sitting third in the table ahead of the weekend fixtures.

Damian Vidagany, Villa’s Head of Football Operations, shared his thoughts on social media after the match, offering insight into the mood inside the dressing room and stressing that the team must avoid “self-destruction” in the final weeks of the campaign.

He wrote:
“The dressing room after the match was very sad, but Unai lifted our spirits.
Fans, you have every right to feel what you feel, as football belongs to you.

As professionals, we understand it, face it, and take responsibility, but we must always maintain balance, seek solutions, and avoid extreme emotions or self-destruction.

Unai and the boys will help us rise again, and when that time comes, hopefully to celebrate together, this night will be just a memory.

We win together and lose together. Maintaining unity and balance on nights like this is what distinguishes a rollercoaster from a strong project — and that is what we are. UTV!”
