ALAN SHEARER POINT FINGER AS HE SLAMS ONE NEWCASTLE PLAYER
Newcastle United crashed out of the FA Cup on Saturday following a disappointing 3–1 defeat against Manchester City. Despite taking the lead early on, the Magpies produced a poor overall performance and were ultimately outplayed as City turned the game around.
While losing to a side of City’s quality is hardly unusual, the manner in which Newcastle United surrendered control of the match after going ahead made the defeat particularly frustrating for supporters.
Nick Woltemade – 3
It was a difficult outing for Woltemade, who struggled to make an impact throughout the match. His closest moment to contributing came when his header was cleared off the line by Nico Gonzalez. Aside from a strong tackle early in the second half, he offered little else.
Overall, it was a disappointing display and arguably his poorest performance yet in a Newcastle shirt. While the forward sometimes receives criticism that may feel harsh, this was a performance that is hard to defend.
Harvey Barnes – 6
Barnes produced a brilliant finish to score Newcastle’s only goal of the match. However, beyond that moment of quality, he was relatively quiet and struggled to influence the game.
William Osula – 5
Osula showed good effort and energy with his movement, but he found it difficult to get involved and rarely threatened City’s defence.
Substitutes
Joelinton – 5
Worked hard after coming on but was unable to change the flow of the match.
Yoane Wissa – 4
Failed to make any meaningful impact during his time on the pitch.
Dan Burn – 4
Could not help steady Newcastle’s defence as City remained in control.
Anthony Gordon – N/A
Introduced too late to receive a rating.
Tino Livramento – N/A
Also came on late and had little time to influence the game.
