“We could have been better”- Daniel Farke does not hold back on the assessment of FA Cup Victor v Norwich

Leeds United F.C. secured a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a convincing 3–0 victory over Championship side Norwich City F.C. at Elland Road.

Although the match was competitive in the opening stages, goals from Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and Joel Piroe ensured a comfortable win for the Whites, extending their FA Cup run.

Manager Daniel Farke had to watch from the stands due to a one-match suspension following his sending-off against Manchester City F.C., but his absence did not hinder Leeds’ dominant display.

Despite the straightforward nature of the victory, Farke admitted he was not entirely satisfied with certain aspects of the team’s performance.
Farke reflects on areas for improvement
Joel Piroe, handed a rare start, ended his run of 18 competitive games without a goal and impressed with his contribution.

However, Farke highlighted moments where Leeds could have been sharper.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Farke said:

“We were the favourites today, but you only have to look at what happened elsewhere. Teams around us rotated and went out.
Important minutes for some players, and others got a rest. When rotating nine positions, it takes time.

We deserved to be 2–0 up. In the second half, game management could have been better at times, but overall we didn’t allow many chances. It was an important win and always good for confidence.”

Leeds dominate against Norwich
After a disappointing FA Cup tie against Birmingham City F.C., this performance was a reassuring display of dominance at Elland Road.

Leeds created more high-quality opportunities than Norwich, boasting an xG of 1.67 compared to the visitors’ 0.87, and registered 15 shots to Norwich’s seven.

Lucas Perri was rarely troubled, needing only three routine saves to maintain a clean sheet.
With wins over the Championship side, Leeds have restored confidence ahead of the crucial Premier League run-in.
