Banished From Rangers First-Team Squad by Danny Rohl

Danny Rohl has reportedly taken a ruthless stance on Rangers loanee Derek Cornelius, ordering him to train with the club’s youth setup for the remainder of his spell at Ibrox, as per Read Rangers.

Rangers have reignited their Scottish Premiership title push after a narrow 1-0 victory over St Mirren, trimming the gap to leaders Hearts to just three points.

This comes despite a sluggish start to the campaign and a series of injury setbacks the manager has had to navigate.

One of those setbacks involved Cornelius, who has not featured since November due to a hamstring injury. Although he has recently returned to training, it now appears he has already played his last game for the club.

The Canadian defender, who joined on loan from Olympique Marseille in the summer, impressed early on before his injury layoff.

However, despite rejoining first-team sessions, he is still some way off full match fitness and is no longer part of Rohl’s plans.

Cornelius has now been instructed to train with the youth team under Malky Thomson for the rest of the season. While Rangers have yet to officially confirm the move, reports suggest his belongings have already been removed from the senior training facilities.

Interestingly, Canada are still expected to include him in their upcoming international squad as they prepare for this summer’s World Cup on home soil.

Though match fitness remains a concern, head coach Jesse Marsch could still consider giving him minutes given his current situation.

Meanwhile, Rangers have built strong momentum in recent weeks and are firmly in the title race.

Rohl appears to have settled on a core group of players he trusts for the run-in, and Cornelius is clearly not among them.

With solid depth in both defensive roles—featuring options like Tuur Rommens, Dujon Sterling, Jayden Meghoma, Emmanuel Fernandez, Nasser Djiga, and John Souttar—the club is well covered.

It now looks certain that Cornelius’ time at Rangers is effectively over, with Rohl making a decisive and uncompromising call on his future.
