Danny Murphy says former West Ham manager would save Tottenham from relegation

The Croatian has struggled to make an impact since taking charge, failing to win any of his first five matches, with his only return being a 1-1 draw against Liverpool.

That poor run has dragged Spurs down to 17th in the Premier League, leaving them just one point above rivals West Ham.

Former England midfielder Danny Murphy has now weighed in, suggesting the club should turn to an experienced former West Ham boss to steer them clear of relegation trouble.

Although Tudor remains in position for now, Tottenham are believed to be exploring options to replace him for the final seven games of the season. Names such as Roberto De Zerbi and Adolf Hutter have already been linked with the role.

However, Murphy believes survival expert Sam Allardyce would be the ideal choice. The veteran manager has a strong track record of keeping clubs like West Ham, Sunderland, Everton, and Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said Allardyce is the first name that comes to mind when it comes to grinding out results, though he admitted a return may be unlikely given his time away from management.

As an alternative, he also mentioned Tim Sherwood, who previously managed Spurs during the 2013–14 campaign.

Murphy also shared his thoughts on West Ham’s situation, expressing confidence that they will avoid relegation under Nuno Espirito Santo.

He pointed to their improved defensive structure and recent consistency, noting that their defeat to Aston Villa was only their second loss in seven matches.

In contrast, Tottenham’s defensive issues continue to be a concern, and Murphy ultimately predicted a grim outcome for the North London side. After reviewing the remaining fixtures, he believes Spurs could finish 18th and suffer relegation to the Championship.

Such an outcome would delight West Ham fans, capping off what has otherwise been a challenging season.
