Celtic’s Julian Araujo Draws SFA Attention

Celtic defender Julian Araujo has played down the heated scenes that followed last weekend’s clash at Ibrox Stadium, dismissing Rangers’ post-match behaviour as nothing more than a “waste of time.”.

Speaking ahead of Celtic’s return across the city for their Scottish Cup quarter-final showdown, the Bournemouth loanee made it clear he won’t be distracted by any attempts at mind games after the fiery 2-2 draw.

Under Martin O’Neill, Celtic staged an impressive comeback from two goals down, with Reo Hatate netting a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser—an outcome that appeared to frustrate the opposition.

But Araujo remained unfazed by the reaction.
“Honestly, it’s kind of a waste of my time,” he said. “I don’t really care what they say or what they do.”

Tensions boiled over after the final whistle, with Nico Raskin and Mikey Moore among those involved in the scuffle.

However, Araujo was seen laughing off the confrontation, as O’Neill stepped in to separate the players.

While fans often enjoy the drama that comes with such fierce encounters, this upcoming cup tie must produce a winner—even if it takes extra time or penalties.

Araujo also acknowledged the intensity of the fixture, describing the Glasgow derby as one of the most thrilling matchups in world football, fuelled by passion and high stakes.
