Rangers Enter Race to Sign Philippe Keny for Danny Rohl

Rangers have joined the growing race to sign highly-rated FC Zurich striker Philippe Keny, as reported by journalist Pete O’Rourke.

While their main priority remains on the pitch—pushing to secure their first Scottish Premiership title since 2021—the Light Blues are also planning ahead.

They currently sit just three points behind leaders Hearts with only a couple of games left before the split, keeping them firmly in contention.

After a frustrating start to the season under Russell Martin, where draws were a recurring issue, Rangers have turned things around impressively under Danny Rohl and are now serious title challengers.

A crucial win over Aberdeen, combined with Celtic’s unexpected defeat to Dundee United, lifted them above their Old Firm rivals, strengthening their push for top spot.

Off the pitch, preparations are already underway for next season. Despite signing 14 players last summer and four more in January, the club’s owners—the 49ers—are reportedly planning a major recruitment drive to further strengthen the squad and avoid another slow start.

However, not all recent signings have delivered. Mikey Moore has impressed but is only on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, while Youssef Chermiti has shown gradual improvement.

Meanwhile, Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski have struggled to make a strong impact. As a result, strengthening the striker position is emerging as a key priority.

Keny has now become a serious target, although Rangers face competition from Championship sides Coventry City and Wrexham.

The 26-year-old Senegalese forward has impressed since joining FC Zurich, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances, and has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

He has also demonstrated leadership by captaining Zurich in recent matches, and a deal worth around £6 million could be enough to secure his services.
