Jack Grealish is currently recovering from foot surgery, but discussions about his future are already underway.

His move to Everton generated plenty of buzz both before and after it happened, and it’s clear he quickly won over the club’s supporters. That’s why it was such a blow when a foot injury earlier in the season cut his time with the Blues short.

However, recent reports—particularly from Everton insider El Bobble—indicate that the club has begun talks about bringing Grealish back to Merseyside next season. The exact structure of any potential deal remains uncertain.

As previously suggested, a return would most realistically come in the form of another loan. Grealish turns 31 in September and is recovering from an injury affecting a crucial area for any footballer, so Everton would need to proceed carefully.

A permanent transfer doesn’t seem ideal, especially with the player entering the final year of his Manchester City contract. Committing long-term to someone of his age may not align with the club’s strategic planning under Angus Kinnear and his team.

On the other hand, a well-structured loan—factoring in his age, fitness, and financial considerations—could be a sensible option. This would be particularly beneficial if Everton qualify for European competition, where squad depth becomes even more important.

That said, such a move could complicate matters for younger players. Iliman Ndiaye had already shifted positions to accommodate Grealish earlier in the season, while prospects like Tyler Dibling and Tyrique George need consistent playing time to develop.

Retaining Grealish would strengthen Everton’s wing options, potentially alongside Dwight McNeil if he remains at the club. But whether this benefits the long-term growth of younger talents is still uncertain.

Ultimately, much will depend on how David Moyes plans to use Grealish if he returns, and whether he continues to balance experience with youth as he has done this season.

Even so, if the terms are right, it would be difficult for Everton to pass up a one-year deal for a player who played such an important role in their strong start to the campaign.
